Pretty much worthless. West Houston between US-59 and I-10 to West 610. major streets of downtown in an 8 inch square. What happened to the other 9/10ths of Houston? It does not include either airport or the other major arteries into or out of the city. I was going to let some guests of mine use the map to get around without relying on a Garmin with no overall reference points but that's out. It seems obvious this company has no idea just how big Houston is. Very disappointing.

The map is beautifully laminated; however, the map is NOT the entire city of Houston. South / West Houston (Katy, Fulshear, Richmond, Rosenberg) are not included. That is the up and coming area. The map was of no use to me.

Very convenient and durable. Easy to use while in the car (not while driving). Shows the city center and easily folds for storage.

Will help me in locating a new apartment.

This is a very useful map. It is pocket size so you can put it in your pocket or in your purse for easy access. I think this map is so easy to read and shows all the roads and the popular buildings for tourist to visit. I am glad I bought this map. Streetwise maps do an excellent job with getting you around the city.

Arthur C. Brooks is President of the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank in Washington, DC. He is the author of nine books, including The Battle, Gross National Happiness, and Who Really Cares. Until 2009, Brooks was the Louis A. Bantle Professor of Business and Government Policy at Syracuse University. Previously, Brooks spent twelve years as a professional French hornist with the City Orchestra of Barcelona and other ensembles. He is a native of Seattle and currently lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife Ester and their three children.

It couldn't be more clear: if Americans behave like mature adults, things will get better.In an easy-to-read 174 pages (plus notes and index), Arthur Brooks calmly lays out the moral and economic case for limited government, thoughtful taxation, and true neighborliness. He is president of the American Enterprise Institute, so he brings some conservative spice to our current economic pickle.Brooks lays out the facts, with well-researched examples to prove his points. He finishes up with some reasonable policy proposals straight out of the Free Marketer's handbook, such as means-testing for Social Security or lower taxes on investments.This book is non-partisan in a good sense, namely that it shows how we've all--left and right alike--stood by as our culture dissolved around us. His advice, if followed, would make life better for people, and would also make us better people. And this last point is the key to the book, namely that economics is not just anothersocial science, it is a moral enterprise.Like a medieval apologist, Brooks defends the faith. In fact, he follows the general form of inquiry used by Thomas Aquinas and other defenders of the faith: begin with a list of objections, state the principle(s) involved, then answer the objections. A reasonable opponent of free markets might argue that such trade arrangements areat best amoral and very often immoral. Further, free markets are unfair. Finally, Good Samaritans have to clean up the wreckage caused by free markets.Brooks contends that Earned Success is the main driver of true human happiness. The sad fates of many lottery winners demonstrates this point: we value what we earn more highly than we value a random gift. And the effort it takes to earn something makes us better, doesn't it? A properly-regulated free market, therefore, is fairer than a managed one, and it produces the wealth that Good Samaritans use. Thus the objections are countered effectively, and the case for free enterprise is made. Good work.Unfortunately, this book will not get a serious public policy hearing anytime soon, and that's the problem with Brooks' approach. The best way to argue against the downward fiscal spiral we're in is calmly and reasonably,as Brooks does. Paul Ryan tried that method in the Vice Presidential debate late last fall, and was ridiculed by Vice President Biden, though Joe offered no coherent message of his own. That, sadly, is the state of the debate in 2013.Like the patient who won't listen to the doctor, we've decided things are just fine the way they are.So, read this book and put it away where you can find it in a few years, when the next bubble bursts. At that point, Arthur Brooks will look like a prophet. Perhaps, if we're lucky, the patient won't be so sick at that point that the cure will mean years of pain.

The first several chapters where the author argues why people are better off free is quite good, if a bit short.Once he gets into his recommendations for where the government should be involved are rather poor.It seems to me, a libertarian, that this book should be very well liked by conservative readers.If you are a democrat or independent and you are interested in why republicans think the way they do, then I suggest reading this book to understand why people are better off with less government. Even if you disagree, you will find value in this book.If you are a libertarian, then understand that his argument is that righties should be making a moral case for freedom, not a case based solely on facts and statistics.

Brooks effectively makes the case that Free Enterprise is the "moral high ground" vs. a society in which government plays a larger and larger role. I strongly recommend this to people who want a constructive message to share with those who judge success as "unfair."

It is always gratifying to read a book whose ideas mirror perfectly one's own. I am worried about the direction our country has taken, particularly in the last three years, and want to know what I can do to alter the course of events. Unfortunately, most people who will read this book from cover to cover are already on board the free enterprise train. The author states early on that this is not about who's in the White House or even about the outcome of future elections, since most of our problems are bipartisan in nature. Presenting a moral argument in favor of free enterprise is a good thing, but I question how many of those who think big governement is the answer are interested in listening.

This was a fun read. Robbie Newport describes how anyone can start a lawn care business in this autobiographical guide that addresses many of the factors that come into play when starting a lawn care business.

I picked up this book as a supplement while attending Pat Pattison's excellent (and free!) songwriting course on Coursera (I strongly recommend the course as well). In brief, the exercises Pat outlines in the book, and Pat's approach to teaching songwriting in general, represent the very best pedagogical approach to the craft that I have ever come across. Not only does he possess a deep understanding of the rhythm of language, line length, and (often-unconventional) rhyme and their often-subtle relationship to perceived meaning, but he goes further to make his understanding accessible in a practical way to the student of the craft. The weeks spent attending his course and reading his books have done far more for my writing than every other book I've read on the subject over thirty years' time, combined.

I love writing music (though amateur), but I was always struggling to create lyrics.I am at about half of the book now, and I have to admit that it wiped out my "writer's block" to a large extent. It is a lot easier to find good images and metaphors, and apply them in a consistent manner through a couple of sentences.I think readers have to know what this book covers, and what it does not cover.The book trains to generate sense-bound stories, find metaphors, rhythm and rhyme. The book DOES NOT tell you how a song should be structured (in terms of verses, chorus, bridge etc.), and how a storyline of a song can be built. If you are interesed in these aspects - you have to look for some other book.

I think the content of this book is great. Numerous exercises challenge the budding lyricist to stretch the imagination in innumerable ways. I bought it for my teenage son who sings and has written poetry, has some background in piano, but isn't sure how to get started writing songs.My comments, therefore, have entirely to do with how this book could be made more user-friendly.First, I'd pay a lot more for it if it was workbook-style. The print needs to be a lot bigger to make it easier on the eye, and having some space to do the exercises directly in the book would be a huge plus.Second, to accommodate the above ideas, it needs to be a LOT larger format, as well as spiral-bound so that it can lay flat. As it is, it's a small, thick book with very tiny typeface that doesn't want to stay open. All of those factors make it VERY hard to use in practical terms. You'd have to be really committed to be willing to struggle to see the print, hold open the book, and do the exercises on some other paper where they can't be kept with the section of the book you're working on.These simple changes, which wouldn't alter the content at all, would make this book many times more user-friendly.

It gives good strategy on ways to expand you vocabulary and connect words in different ways. It gives you different ways and structures to write songs. It gives you exercises to help improve the quality of your writing as well as the speed.

These are definitely worth the price. They're good sized, soft cover books. They're 6 year books as described and have boxes to check for sent and received. They're perfect for those of us that send out lots of Christmas cards each year! The book is alphabetized as well.

If you have a simple list and don't add children and address changes then this would be okay. As it is there is barely enough space for the address, especially if it is a long one. This is a very simple booklet.

I wish it had tabs for the alphabet, but I like it.
