My two grand daughters are big fans of Dan and Phil. They saw them on their US tour and were excited about their second book. I got them each a book and after looking through it myself found it to be a very well done photo gallery and stories of Dan and Phil's adventures from their tour. I gave the books to my grand daughters tonight, Christmas Eve, and they loved them. They think I'm a pretty cool grandpa.

The stars are according to my daughter. I haven't read the book, but she loves it, and it's just what she wanted. It is a little cheaper here at Amazon than to order from Dan & Phill directly so that makes me happy. It seems to be all the rage with the tweens/teens so it must be good, at least in their eyes. My daughter is 13, if you need a reference, a good gift for her age group.

I can't give this one 5 stars, mainly because some of the author's "predictions" seem a bit wild and far-fetched and not grounded in hard-core statistical formulas that add up. But his general theories about the way baby boomers will age and affect the economy is valid and this book provides plenty of food for thought. I think it makes sense that many baby boomers, as Dent suggests, will have to allocate more and more of their income for health care and may also wish to downsize and spend less money as they age - or they may have no other choice but to spend less. As a firm believer that spending goes in cycles and that people of various ages spend differently, this book held a lot of information that I found useful. But if you read it with the idea that EVERY prediction is set in stone and will come true, you're better off going to a fortune teller. Take it for what it is worth, a set of theories or general ideas and trust your own instincts. When seen in this light, the book is an intriguing and even eye-opening read.

I have been a technology investor for over a decade, and done very well because I acutally understand technology and investing. I am glad to find an economist (I'm coming from the scientific side of this equation) who actually understands "gets it" from the economic side. Read this book, understands its fundamental concepts, and put it to work! I feel you will profit greatly(I know I am - heading for early retirement with a very nice income). I am giving this book to several of my friends.

After reading Dent's superb book "The Great Boom Ahead" I was really looking forward to this book. However, aside from repeating himself, this book provides little new insight. Stick with his other book, and don't waste your time on this one.

Who could have blamed Harry Dent for his blissfully optimistic prediction of a roaring economy in general and stock market in particular in the first decade of the 2000s? After all, the markets had already increased several-fold in previous years, the NASDAQ in particular was going up and up and up, the economy was great, and his own technical analysis indicated a continued growth of unprecedented proportions. The problem was that Harry could not foresee 911, the pricking of the dot.com bubble, the collapse of Enron, or, toward the end of the first decade of the millennium, the collapse of the housing market. But while none of us is prescient concerning the future, all of us should realize that economic bubbles don't last forever. Whether we're dealing with tulip bulbs, baseball cards, or tech companies, growth always has its limit. And a rapid rise in value is almost always followed by a period of deflation. Dent certainly knew all this. But he ignored it. This time it would be different. And that's the way that people who invest when the bubble is about to burst always think. But it's never different. The bubble pops. And the optimistic predictions are never fulfilled. If you read this book, read it only as a period piece and a study in irrational exuberance.

Harry S. Dent is a very intelligent person and has a good understanding of why markets work as they do. When I first read this book in 2000 I was impressed with his analysis. And if one wants to read this book solely for its technical analysis, then it's still worth reading.However, markets are influenced by a number of factors--the political and geopolitical situation, investor confidence, and the like. These factors are much harder to predict. Because of this, predictions concerning future market trends are inherently risky. Dent should have known this when he wrote his book and kept his predictions modest.Certainly Dent couldn't have known in advance about the collapse of Enron, the 9/11 attacks, and other events that weighed down the stock market in the first couple years of the new decade. Nor could he have foreseen how misguided policies in both the public and private sectors would bring about the deep recession of 2008-2009. But he certainly should have sensed in 1999 (when this book was published) that the stock market, which had skyrocket for most of the decade, was already overvalued, and that the Nasdaq and dot.com bubbles couldn't last. Had he seen this, it is doubtful that he would have made the predictions that he did.Which leads me to another reason to read this book. It's a great example of the sort of irrational exuberance that one finds whenever things are going well. Along with "Dow 36,000" (the paradigm of the irrational optimism of the era), it shows how even intelligent analysts can get caught up in the excitement of the moment, and, leaving reason to one side, make predictions that in retrospect are truly laughable.

I love this book. It does really well in the array of countries/regions it covers in the Mediterranean. My family is eastern Mediterranean, and so I am familiar with the meals and techniques used in Syria, Lebanon, and neighboring cultures. In this book there is a great selection of Greek, Turkish, and North African recipes. I will definitely be cooking many of the Moroccan tagines featured here. Additionally, I was impressed with the writer's knowledge of the Persian, Armenian, and Arab influences on Turkish meals.Something else I love about this volume is the huge selection of Spanish, French, and Italian classic dishes to have in your repertoire. Also listed are compatible wines, intra-country regional specialties, and background information from all over the Mediterranean. I could easily host an appetizer party of Spanish tapas, French hors d'oeuvres, Greek mezes, etc. from this book. What I've tried so far has been outstanding, and so many of the other recipes look outstanding too. Included are recipes for French bouillabaisse, Italian braised and stuffed beef roll (this one definitely wows), Greek calamari-rice salad, Lebanese baked eggplant, Spanish pork tenderloin with figs and sherry, Spanish flatbread with chard and Manchego, and Turkish lamb stew over an eggplant-cheese sauce.The recipes use healthful ingredients; techniques are not complicated or pretentious. I love this book! I have made:-Baked Shrimp with Tomatoes and Feta-Halibut Provencale (quick and easy, I make this probably once a month)-Fish Tagine with Chickpeas and Olives-Spiced Pumpkin Tagine-Sauteed Zucchini with Onions and Potatoes-Cauliflower with Tomatoes and Feta- Rice with Fish and Pimenton (time consuming, but worth it!)-Couscous with Apricots and AlmondsOccasionally I find an ingredient listed that I can't find in stores, but I live in a small town where there are limitedethnic food choices. When I make a substitution, it has always worked out fine. I have also purchased the Williams-Sonoma Dessert book, French Cooking, and Pies and Tarts. The Mediterranean is the one I use the most. I would have to agree that most of the recipes are not "quick fixes" to throw together after a work day, but there are several that you definitely could. I guess it comes down to planning and having a real desire to eat flavorful, healthy, quality meals...

I bought this book after a trip to the Mediterranean and a chance to taste lots of authentic cooking.This is a great sampling of the cooking styles and dishes of the area. Simple and easy to follow. No exotic techniques or hard to find ingredients.

After reading all of the great Amazon reviews, I purchased this book. The recipes for the most part aren't something one can whip together after getting home from work, and I found many of the dishes not to be as tasty as those made from recipes found elsewhere.

I confess that I have many cookbooks, but this is a great addition to my collection. There are many recipies using ingredients I keep on hand at home. The recipes are easy to follow and we have enjoyed all we have tried so far. I love the Mediterranean style of eating and find the book very helpful!

Love eating healthy, lots of colorful pictures. and when you start eating like this you will do your heart, body and mind a world of difference. Not a diet just good food, and good choices will automatically take some pounds off will no effort.

Just received this today & used it to make dinner tonight. My husband & I recently started the Mediterranean Diet & this is a great book for that. I especially like that the recipes are divided by country. It's easy to put together a complete meal from the same country. Once you understand the basis for this way of eating & have your pantry stocked with the basic ingredients, you can make almost every recipe in this book. Recipes are nicely photographed. It is a little pricey, but I think well worth the money.

My 80 year old Mom eats better than I do....These recipes are easy to follow and has many of her favorite ingredients. The colorful and enticing photos have drawn us to try new flavor combinations. I'm excited to cook for her too! YUM! We haven't found one yet that was disappointing. Great gift for everyone...

These stories are childhood imaginations come to life. Great Black speculative work!

Death's little helper. A woman having a heart to heart with her actual organ. A celestial being willing to sacrifice itself in order to earn redemption. Those are some of the characters Smith introduces to the world through her short story collection. The slender compilation is filled with fanciful situations that take place in pretty standard locations. It is hard to pick out a stand-out story but "All the Light There Was" and "A Rose for Brescia" offers up different ways of looking how family relationship shape our decisions. "Life Cycle" and "Harvest" both deal with new beginnings while "Catch Me if You Can" makes you rethink the whole fox and hound hunt scene. Smith's work deals with women in the throes of transformation. Their journey range from fantastic locations like outer space to the typical single woman's apartment. Smith creates rich characters who deal with unique situations in a way that is totally relatable even when they are being coached by bunnies through childbirth. It is a short read which lends itself being returned to time and time again as the mood hits.

A lovely collection of short stories featuring black and brown sapphic women. I just loved this so much. Sure, there are many stories and I didn't like all of them, but this collection is just so enjoyable and heartwarming. Happy WOC in space, falling in love, learning about their powers... I giggled, laughed and smiled so much through the reading that my mouth hurt.There are fantasy stories with magical creatures and goddesses and science fiction stories with space operas and super agents. Seriously, it is incredibly adorable and great.Please please please buy, read and love Two Moons, these stories are so important.

Loved the whimsy, the characters, and the worlds. Favorite stories were "Two Moons", "Harvest". "What the Heart Wants", "A Rose for Brescia", and "Cosmic."

The book came in excellent condition, just as I had expected. It arrived very quickly and I did not have any problems! I definitely recommend this!!

So if you're like me and you've traveled a bit, you know that pretty much all maps in ALL guidebooks are less than totally useful. If you want a comprehensive map, ESPECIALLY for a place like London, get an A-Z. I like this guide because I like opinionated suggestions about places to go during my limited free time when I'm traveling on business. Are all of these suggestions great? No. Can I afford to stay at all the hotels? Again, no. But these guides give really interesting ideas, food for thought, and a couple of places that made colleagues say "How did you hear about THIS place?". And for $8.95, that's more than worth it to me.

It's unclear for what audience this series of guidebooks is intended. The first-time visitor will find them totally bewildering, while the seasoned traveler will inevitably quibble with the extremely quirky choice of locations included, none of which is marked on the rudimentary map on the inside back flyleaf. The 100 tiny pages, presumably intended to fit into a trouser pocket or small purse, are largely devoted to photographs (attractive), but which reduce still further the space for actual travel information. Wallpaper would have done much better to have merely collected in one place all the great restaurants, hotels, shops, and services featured monthly in the pages of their magazine. Instead, only four shops are featured for a city as huge and varied as London! The idea of reserving only one page for an alleged "insider" profile (once again with minimal "tips," none of them marked on a map) is an interesting "concept" but nearly useless to any traveler. It would appear that Wallpaper's aim was to present each city as a "concept" rather than a series of useful, practical pieces of information (why then an entire section on "escaping" from the city, when you've hardly even discovered it?), but in the end it's mostly an interesting conceit that will appeal to devotees who don't really need another guidebook at all. I religiously clip the tear-out travel pages in the monthly magazine; the recent page for London contains far more useful information for the traveler than this entire book (and has a useful map besides). Wallpaper the magazine is a terrific treasure-trove of cutting-edge information for the on-the-go, in-the-know citizen of the world. In reducing the format and the content, however, both the excitement and the utility have been pared away as well. What could have been a stunning series is instead little more than a curiosity.

I was really excited when I picked up this guidebook for my recent trip to London. I'm a seasoned traveller but hadn't been to London in almost twenty years and I was looking for a happening, locals' list of places. Pretty quickly I realized that not only is the book very limited, it's also focused primarily on the more expensive end of an already incredibly expensive city. It's definitely the 'swanky' guide to London. Best sections were landmarks and architecture -- stuff that generally isn't covered in other books.

I think this edition has included the recent classifications of Hematological diseases. Moreover it includes updated information of almost all the topics. A good handbook for a fellow, practising Physican in Adult Hematology. I recommend this book.

Clinical Hematology is a small book which provides a surprising large amount of the most important and up to date information I am looking for. It is very helpful to have such pertinent and trust-worthy information at my fingertips. Epidemiology, clinical presentation, staging, prognostics, statistics and treatment presented in a well organized and concise manner. I reach for this volume (and its companion The Bethesda Handbook of Clinical Oncology) often.

My staff physician on heme/onc rotation loaned me this book. It spoke hematology in my language. Wish I would have had it back in med school--hematology wouldn't have been so intimidating. The section on hemoglobinopathies was especially helpful

this is my first kindle book on professional subject. The book itself is good. However, the kindle format makes all tables and figures unreadable. So it's a waste of money. It will be great if amazon let's have a copy (may be pdf form) of unreadable tables and figures. Otherwise, kindle format is entirely not recommended. Buy the paper book.

I am using this book to cram for hematology review. It offers a good basic survey and have many clinical relevant diagnostic, treatment and follow up information. It is fairly dense and up to date. Recommend highly.

Excellent resource for my clin lab diagnosis class. This text and Fishbach really helped me understand the pathophysiology behind a CBC.
