I bought all three of these books - Superheroes, Villians, and Princess/Fairies/Ponies. I like that the faces and the adorable outfits are more challenging to draw than similar books, which only have dots for eyes, noses and a line for the mouths. Also I like that the final picture is in color. My only complaint is that there are no real hands or feet, so I copy hands & feet from another step-by-step book with more realistic hands, feet or shoes. I hope future books will have that. I am not a child, so perhaps a young child will not care about the hands or feet.

My boys are huge super hero fans! When they wanted to draw their own comic book I didn't know where to start so I bought this book. The instructions are step by step and very easy, even my 4 year old can follow along fairly well with minimal help. Great for younger kids who are just learning how to draw, would recommend to friends and family.

My six year grandson sat right down and drew the figures from the book. He really enjoyed being able to follow the simple diagrams to create Super Heroes. I grandma, sat with him and also drew some figures, and his were just as good as mine. Using a few simple shapes, it is possible to easily draw many Super Heroes regardless of your age.

My 9-year old son and his friends are all about drawing their own comics. My son is just starting to learn. We got him several comic drawing books that come highly recommended, but this one won the spotlight! I think many comic drawing books can be intimidating for a kid, but this one gives the basics, using shapes they know, to draw all their super heroes (or ones they can create on their own!). This book is a great place to start for your kids!

My 9 year old son totally LOVED this book. He really enjoyed making the drawings. He liked it so much, he carried this book around. Most superhero drawing books are way too complex for his skill level. This was attainable and fun. I highly recommend this. I hope Steve Hilker will continue to make more drawing books like this...maybe Minecraft!

My 5 year old absolutely loves this book! He was a late bloomer when it comes to drawing and interest in art, but loves superheroes and this book made drawing figures manageable and fun for him! Now he makes all kinds of characters using the shape-based template that is the foundation for each of the characters in the book. Highly recommend!

My son's kindergarten teacher asked us to give him some more exercise with using pencils, because his fine motor skills are delayed. She recommended a couple of cute how-to-draw books, but when I saw this one I knew it was just the thing. He's bananas for superheroes. This one contains both DC and Marvel heroes and is very, very simple to follow--there are some other lovely how-to-draw-superheroes books out there but they are for older kids or even adults. This one is so satisfying for my son because they are dead simple but totally recognizable. He has drawn most of them and mailed the pictures to his friends and grandparents. :)

My 5 year old boy loves super heroes & drawing.... and this book!!! He can do them all probably 95%. Majority of the time he's completely content doing what he's able, but sometimes he'll ask me to help with the small details in the face or somewhere. There was one super hero that I glued the pages together & permanent marker over his face on the back cover-- the ghost rider.... I felt like he looks way to scary for a 5 year old. My son didn't care that I did that & loves the book. We're very happy with it!!!

Son was excited to get this for his birthday and Drew a full character the day he got it. It was easy to use and follow. Love that they look like Lego characters.

Manga or Light Novel. So there is a light novel version and a Manga. I have both versions and like them equally. I've also been watching the Anime on and off. To clarify things I'm going to include links to both the Light Novel and the Manga versions in case you want the other version when you come to the reviews. For some reason you can't easily find the Light Novel version via the search box. I then ended up getting the Manga too since I wanted to support the creators and I really liked the story, concept, and the artwork.

I was introduced to this series via the anime, which I enjoyed very much and decided to purchase to show my support for the series and the author. I also decided to purchase this light novel and enjoyed it as well. The first book in the series provides an introduction to the characters and the world that the series takes place in, covering the first 3 episodes of the show. It complimented the anime very well by providing some additional details that are left out of the anime and allowing the reader to get inside the head of the MC, Bell. Two negative items that I would like to mention are the monster sounds and the overall quality of writing. First, the author insists on writing sounds (grunts, yells, etc.) for the monsters in the dungeon. It's pretty terrible. Things like 'gerraaahhhh!!!!' Every time I read one it takes me out of the story because I have no idea what the sound is supposed to be. The other item is that the writing is slightly amateurish. As long as you aren't expecting the type of writing that you will get from an experienced author, it shouldn't bother you too much. Overall, I enjoyed the novel enough that I purchased the second book in the series. If you are a big fan of the anime (like I am), you should definitely consider purchasing this. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is a light novel by Fujino Omori. This light novel is one of the reasons why I love reading this type of genre. It provides the science fiction, fantasy, and magic in every chapter. I love the aspect how the author incorporated a game like system into his novel. It is one of the reasons I read this type of genre like Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, and Overlord. The character development is intriguing as well, you notice the main character as this weak feeble man and develops more and more into a strong adventurer as his skills and confidence is boosted. I first saw this anime and had so many questions about the tower, the skills, and leveling up. The light novel sure answered all the questions I had. If you are into fantasy, magic, and sci-fi I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the light novel!

Good so far, two thirds of the way through. I watched the anime and decided to get the light novel (been doing this recently also for Konosuba and RE:Zero). Its a fun read and as someone who enjoys fantasy and role playing games I think its pretty cool. I'm not a huge reader, though I sort of wish I was. I've read Jurassic Park, loved Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, and the Harry Potters. Light novels are a nice change and its easy to read and put down and pick back up moments later. Clearly I'm an amateur reader xD Still I highly recommend this.

This is a fantasy comic I didn't think I would like, but it's an action romance and lot of fun. Don't know if I'm going to keep following, but I might grab other issues in the future. The art is decent, but the story is amusing and entertaining and it's a page turner if you like a little love triangle romance with your action.- Nathyn Brendan Masters

Alas my mind went straight to the gutter after seeing the title, preventing me from reading this wonderful light novel. After watching the Anime, wow, what a great story! I had to go buy this book. Please give it a try. It doesn't disappoint. :)

This is a fun little read that I picked up because I am watching the anime. The anime is a pretty faithful adaptation, taking three episodes for each volume of the light novel, but the light novel fills in a lot of little gaps that aren't necessary to know to understand the story, but are enjoyable little tidbits.As for the story, I love the fantasy setting with RPG-like aspects and I love the characters who are pleasant with interesting quirks

This volume is a rollercoaster of emotions. From the begging to the very end you are always trying to guess what happens next, but it always comes up with a way to break through your expectations in the best ways possible. I'm keeping this as vague as I can for a reason, but if you've liked the story until now, it's about to get even better. And as always it's packed with some breathtakingly beautiful Illustrations!. I implore you to take your time and read through this awesome volume in an unbelievably good story.

Discussing the steadily growing community of psychoanalysts in Vienna (and, successively, in Zurich, Berlin and elsewhere), Makari notes that the Freudians could sometimes be intellectually insular and sectlike, resulting in the expulsion of Alfred Adler and C.G. Jung from Freud's circle between 1907 and 1913. Makari succinctly describes developments after Freud's influence peaked, especially the prominence of what came to be called ego psychology as developed by Heinz Hartmann, and the bitter intellectual dispute between Melanie Klein and Anna Freud. Makai deftly handles the narrative that marches the concepts of Freudian psychology from theories in philosophy to therapeutic techniques and discoveries with unavoidable social political implications.Like Melanie Klein, Carl Jung and others, Reich's theorizing carried him into territory others refused to follow. Amazingly encyclopedic and skillfully written.

Psychoanalysis, like the religious movement of Plymouth Brethren, not to mention the politics of International Trotskyism, is a movement of schisms. "Orthodox Freudianism," Reichism, Reikism (don't confuse these !), Horneyism, Jungism ... but I begin to bore you, right ? This book tells us a lot about these schisms, a little about Freud, and very little about the intellectual history of modern psychology. So yes, it's a useful reference book, especially for those who care about, well, the difference between Reich and Reik.So far so good. But there is also a certain sloppiness about the production of this book that I for one found annoying. There is no bibliography, although the notes carry bibliographic information. The photos would be so much more enjoyable if they had been printed on separate glossy pages, which is the norm for quality books. The English language is not always quite given its due: does the author know, for example, what the singular is of "phenomena" (p. 416) ? And then we are told, quite a bit, about "Aryan" psychoanalysts (pp. 410, 417, etc). What are Aryans ? I thought that only Nazis think that there are such people.Yes, research libraries need to buy this book. But not anyone else.

Not sure about this one.There are definitely some good insights, ideas and recommendations; for example, the key distinction between a stretch (make the most of the resources you have) vs. chase (acquire resources systematically) mindset, a variation on the classical dilemma of exploration vs. exploitation.However, the whole thing feels a little bit unfocused, with different strands of psychological research put together in what is not always a coherent narrative. Moreover, the examples used are sometimes weak or cherry-picked; for example, yes, we can attribute the demise of many companies to a chasing mindset, but we can also find examples of success (for example, Amazon strategy itself of acquiring more and more to become the leader in online retailing).My overall impression is that a good idea got stretched to the point of becoming too thin.

Note: I wrote this as part of a book review series I started at my workplace.What kind of stretching are we talking about? I hope you’re not going to tell me I just need to unlock my inner potential through Downward Facing Dog.Well, I do love yoga, but this is a different kind of stretching altogether. Scott Sonenshein wrote this book to answer the question, “How is it possible to achieve more prosperous organizations, rewarding careers, and fulfilling lives with what’s already in hand?” In other words, how can we stretch the resources we already have to get more use out of them rather than continuously chasing after more resources?What’s the main takeaway?Resourcefulness, resourcefulness, resourcefulness. In the author’s words, “The problem is: We routinely overestimate the importance of acquiring resources but even more significantly underestimate our ability to make more out of those we have.”Can you unpack that a little?A lot of us tend toward a mindset the author calls chasing, in which we believe that the more resources we have, the more we’ll be able to accomplish and the better results we’ll get. As the author puts it, “Most of our time and energy get spent looking for tools and not actually putting nails into walls.” However, this mindset can lead us into perpetual dissatisfaction as we keep comparing our apparent lack of resources to those around us who always seem to have better stuff, and then we just keep amassing more and more resources, many of which go to waste as we lose track of our growing tool box. Worse still, too many resources can actually limit our efficiency and effectiveness because with very few constraints we no longer feel the need to—you knew I was going to say this—think outside the box. Cliché, but true!Stretching embraces the opposite mindset, in which we view constraints as opportunities rather than roadblocks. Instead of bemoaning the lack of a hammer, we find something else at hand to put nails into walls, like a rock or a can of beans. Not only do we waste less time and money going after resources we don’t necessarily need, but also we become more creative and effective problem solvers. We figure out multiple uses for resources that others may see as serving only one function, and we notice potential resources that others may overlook as trash.Nice, but how can this help me in my daily work?Wouldn’t you feel more empowered if you were told that you already have all the resources you need to get the job done? That’s what Sonenshein effectively is arguing here—no glib intended. “By adopting a stretching mind-set,” he says, “we can reach extraordinary potential with what we already have. It’s a matter of recognizing the untapped value in our resources and directing our energy to nurturing and developing what’s in hand.” The key word here is “mind-set”: stretching is not a gimmick for making resources out of thin air, it’s a mind-set that can help us make the most of what we have.Sonenshein cites organizational theorist Martha Feldman as proposing that “almost anything—tangible and intangible—has potential as a resource, but that to become anything valuable requires action. This helps us realize that resources don’t come from outside us—they’re not things we go out and get but rather things we create and shape.” If this sounds a little too woo-woo for you, then put another way, all the author is really saying is that “Constraints can motivate us to be resourceful, act in more creative ways, and solve problems better.” Certainly we could all benefit from the ability to solve problems better with more resourcefulness and creativity.What else makes this book worth the read?In addition to citing research studies that support the stretch mindset, the author shares lots of fascinating stories about people using resources in extraordinary and often unexpected ways. There’s the Van Man, who lives in an old Volkswagen behind a Walmart—even though he’s a multimillionaire. There’s the aspiring filmmaker who made his first movie on a shoestring budget of $3,000, using desk lamps in place of professional lighting and a wheelchair in place of a camera dolly (OK, spoiler alert y’all: it’s Robert Rodriguez ). You can find out how a single mother working as a secretary used her artistic bent to create a best-selling product that revolutionized office work in the twentieth century. And you can read about how America’s first black female millionaire turned her own social, economic, and health limitations into a business that not only made her very successful but also provided many other black women with a path to financial independence. Plus, the author offers some “stretching exercises” (hey, it’s his pun, not mine!), practical tips for using the stretch mindset in action.

I work a lot with nonprofit organizations, and I find that the tools and concepts here are as useful, if not more useful that the corporate-side strategy. Based on thoughtful examples in a number of different fields to understand different strategies and tactics to support and thrive through creatively dealing with resource "adversity." Good business, personal, life book. Strongly recommend.

This book is an absolute gem that combines solid research and riveting stories to teach us about resourcefulness and the importance of stretching; that is, cultivating the possibilities of resources we already have. In a world that encourages us to go after what we don’t have, or to wait to take action until resources are in place, Stretch offers a powerful antidote and life affirming alternative to ‘chasing’ after more resources.Yet, the book doesn’t stop there. The beauty of it is how it asks, gently prompts and even inspires us to put Stretch to use in our daily lives. For example, chapters 4-7 on building our skillsets are chock full of practical ways to stretch. And chapter 9 is filled with exercises we can do to strengthen our stretching. There is also an excellent resource section on Professor Sonenshein’s website that provides further exercises and articles. As a faculty member in a business school, I welcome this book and am already putting Stretch to use in my teaching and research (I especially love the shop your closet exercise!). I can imagine the audience as everyone!

This is a delightful book that uses real world examples for how you can do more with less through the act of stretching. The writer has a captivating style that draws the reader in making you want to continue reading. I plan on talking about this book with my coworkers and family members because who of us can't learn to do more with what we already have.

Stretch is one of the most impactful books that I have ever read. As a PhD scientist who has worked in both small start-ups and large corporations, Sonenshein’s insights resonated with me. I highly recommend this book for anyone in business or academics who wants to develop a more innovative culture. I especially appreciated his points about avoiding the temptation to over-resource and to focus on action. This book is well researched with several novel examples the support his hypotheses. I especially enjoyed the chapter on food truck culture.I am not sure if this was intentional, but throughout the book Sonenshein referred to several examples of his wife, “an extraordinary stretcher”. As a working mother in a dual career family I appreciated how Sonenshein drew from his own personal examples highlighting his wife’s decisions and successes. We need more examples of couples who support each other with high powered careers and thrive by supporting each other!I could not put this book down and look forward to sharing this book with colleagues and friends. I hope that Sonenshein is working on his next book because I cannot wait to read it.

After reading the insanely funny "You're making me hate You!" I immediately got this book. I'm always in the market for good humor books, but this book, while it did contain some bits of humor, was a more serious philosophy of Corey's regarding the seven deadly sins. I ignored warnings by other reviewers that this book is not for the very religious because I was in it for the humor. But Corey's views are going to upset you if you are one of the very religious, especially if you are also a Republican.An unexpected treasure was finding out more about Taylor. He reveals some interesting, but heart wrenching facts about his childhood, his upbringing and some of the things he had to go through to get where he is today.The book is very well written. Taylor is a smart man with an attitude and energy many of us can learn from.

The book was interesting. Taylor writes with wit and smarts. Not a lot of people use the word "troglodyte" (twice I think). He is a strong writer with analogies galore. The book is stream of conscious, but almost too much so. It was disjointed to the point where I felt having a rough outline or different editing would have made the book easier to read and have less repetition in the same chapters. That being said, I enjoyed the book and if you are a fan of Slipknot, Stone Sour, or the man himself I recommend it. For those that are fans, there are some great videos of solo acoustic songs on you tube. The man is undeniably talented.

I've read all of Corey Taylor's books, and loved this one the most. It's funny, thoughtful, and gives insight into his rock star lifestyle, which makes it even more engaging. I'd recommend it for, not only metal fans of the man behind the awesome Slipknot and Stone Sour bands, but also for readers interested in a discussion about whether "sin" is really, well...sin. I really love this guy as a genius musical artist, and now as an author. *horns up*

Taylor shares his hard-earned wisdom and gives his unfiltered view on life and religion. His way of explanation and writing is very straight foward and entertaining, which is great for younger people or for those who are not habitual readers, but the best part about this book is that it makes people THINK. Changing the way you think can change your life, and depending on where you are on yours, Taylor's book may impact it. 5 stars out of respect to the author and what he is trying to do.

In this book, Corey Taylor (writer and singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour. End of story, he's a poet and amazing with words) draws the readers in with extremely personal and relatable accounts of his childhood and his personal grasp on the topic of sin. It was unique, and well written. I reccommend it to fans of his music, and also anyone who wants to read a hilarious and interesting dissection of sin and how it effects (and should effect) the lives of everyone around us

This is not your average rock star biography written by the token journalist: this is a stream-of-consciousness roller coaster that paints, in very vivid colors, Corey Taylor's life philosophy...and it is beyond captivating.I might not agree with some of his more extreme stances, but his core approach to freedom, liberty, embracing life and enjoying pleasure is wonderful. if you add that his life as a child and a teenager could have easily turned him into an aggro, mean MF, you end up appreciating his attitude and his advice ten times more. His pen does not flow, it bursts, stops, accelerates and gets lost in the maze that his brain seems to be, but he always manages to drag you along for the ride, and convince you the ride is fun. You don't have to be a Stone Sour or Slipknot fan to read this - you'll certainly understand a lot more about the bands by taking this journey.

This is more of a moral prose on sin than an autobiography. But Corey does have great arguments on redefining sin.. I would have liked more autobiographical examples of his life dealing with the sins more. This is not an autobiography but it does give you some deep dark secrets about this life that shocked me and made me really appreciate what he has gone through as a human being..

not for today's society maybe would of been good if written in the bush administration but not today, promotes domestic violence in the wrath argument.
