Overall, a disappointing book for touting itself as an "All-Inclusive Guide." Ninety percent of the book consists of advice that those who have basic time management skills and common sense would already know. Anyone who gets a clerkship already knows to proofread their work and communicate clearly and thoroughly with their judge; the advice in this book goes no deeper than these sorts of platitudes. The chapters about drafting orders and opinions likewise contain nothing that a good student would not have learned in their law school's legal writing class. I was hoping for a nuanced discussion of the clerkship mindset and deep-dive insights into the judicial decision-making process, but this book largely let me down.
If you are looking forward to clerking or interning for a judge, this book is a must. It is comprehensive and very well written, and it has everything you would ever need to know about clerking. I found it incredibly helpful when I was interning for my chambers this summer, and it became an instant favorite with other clerks and interns at my court.
