For five bucks you get concise instructions, not reams of razzle-dazzle that leaves you wondering what it is, specifically, that you are supposed to do. You should read through the book first to get an idea where you are going. It is short enough that you can do this fairly quickly. Then download the tool kit from the author's web site. Even that is made simple for you. From there, start following the instructions. If you are seriously interested in anonimity, this is a good way to spend five bucks. You won't regret it. Get this instruction set.
Definitely a great book, I must say that for it's price you get great benefits, with tips and recommendations a non-technical user can understand.Although I'm a more technical person, and I would have preferred more advanced techniques on becoming anonymous, and also when we consider that not any software is 100% secure. The author explains key advantages and disadvantages on using tor, or even tails. And focus most of the tips to stay anonymous without overwhelming the reading. Just straight to the point. I find this good and useful for any kind of user.Considering this is quite a cheap guide, it's worth a lot. 5 stars.
I became interested in Internet anonymity because of the increasing use of your information by marketing agencies, as well as Facebook and Google for marketing purposes. The Internet is a big place and this book does a good job explaining how to protect yourself from marketing companies or anyone else.
Solid, and informative. Not a computer geek but it walked me steadily thru using it. Needs a little update here and there but the author passes on plenty of links to keep you current. For those thinking of using Tails, some of the steps for verifying the tails download can now use a simple Firefox extension which has come out since this was published.Definitely glad I bought it.
Anonymous was a lot better than I had anticipated. It is a quick read and well worth the sub-$5-price. What I liked about it the best is that it outlines in cookbook fashion techniques for obscurity that are can be reproduced in the lab. Additionally, it gives one great fodder for contemplating the complexity and "completability" of what it means to be truly anonymous online. This book should be read by anyone who is paying attention to national events. I do recommend this book.
This is a wonderful little read, and definitely a step in the right direction for anonymity online. It is an endless subject and a lot of people are intimidated, flustered, or just don't have the time to learn how to have privacy online. This book will have you up and running in no time, give you insight on a wonderful Linux distro (no terminal needed), silently introduce you to the Tor project, and give you some sense of privacy on line at the end of the day. Five stars would have been given for a more in depth selection of anonymous email services (that really don't exist anymore) (MyKolab*), or a basic tutorial to setting up your own email server (not as hard as you would think). Nice job and worth every penny.
A short and powerful practical guide which explains how to stay completely invisible online. Still this technique is not very practical when you want to use it on a daily basis. Unless you are Russian Spy, David Petraeus in a love affair or just feel the need to be total anonymous from time to time for whatever reason. This book teaches you 2 things. 1. The complete practical set up how to be anonymous online. 2. That those who tell you that they can do this with a quick fix are wrong.
Some great tips and information, especially from the author's site, but difficult for beginners to decipher due to some new changes made with TAILS. I also had to solve my computer's inability to boot from my flash drive. Will edit review once done with the setup but overall the steps are pretty straight forward.
